Meaning: The shape of this design is a Manaia, a creature with the head of a bird, body of a man and a tail of a fish. It acts as a guardian and protector, embodying the balance between the sky, earth and sea. In both pieces there are two Manaias which can symbolise protection of one person for another and also protection from all directions for the wearer. The Korus inside the Manaia represent the continuous movement of life, new begginings, new opportunities, growth and harmony. It is a powerful representation of renewal and change. |
